Are you looking to change the size of your wallet and live like no one else? Here are four money tips from the best of best millionaires and billionaires around.
One of my favorite millionaires in the world #DaveRamsey is one of the most informative millionaires out there. He speaks his mind, he get families of impossible debt situations and he has great advice, since he used to be on the broke side of life.
But it occurred to me today that I too want to be rich. Don't we all. The question is, how does a small town girl/boy, young, in college, let's face it broke because of college loans get to the million dollar mark?
Habits! I'll say it again, HABITS!
Tell me this, does a seed become a tree the second you plant it in, or does a seed become a tree after years of watering, checking for weeds, fighting winds and insects, defying gravity... yes. Life is all about making intentional decisions to impact trajectory of your life, and that starts with your daily habits.
Here are 4 habits most millionaires live by.
“Be rich is a repetitive choice. Wealth doesn't build overnight.”
1. Millionaires live below their means
Another favorite millionaire of mine, soon to be billionaire is #GrantCardone. He's a real estate guru, owns property everywhere and he started with nothing. He lived in a modest home until his father passed and his mother was forced to sell his father's dream home to survive. Over the years Grant understood the meaning of cash flow and living within your means until you could afford what you want. For the better of his first millionaire bankroll, Grant continued to drive a Corolla. Yes, he could afford a Bentley, Mercedes, you name it, but putting majority of his income into a car that depreciates over time was a bad investment rather storing income and generating other revenue sources.
2. Understanding delayed gratification
Alright, lets jump into this, you will not be successful the second you start working on something. It just doesn't happen. I don't care who you are, where you're from, how talented you and your mama think you are, life is a jog, not a sprint.
It's better you know this now. Success takes time. It just does. Ideas need time to grow before they blossom into wealth. You'll spend the better of your twenties and thirties, if you begin building your career in your twenties, on the grind, most of the time alone, underappreciated, and will receive little praise from those closest to you. And that's the truth.
To be great, you have to start somewhere and that somewhere is at the bottom. Drake knew exactly what he was talking about.
So don't go into achieving high and waiting for a loud applause. Most of the time, people won't care who you are or what you do until you blow up, and trust, stay consistent, working on your craft until you master it, people will eventually take notice.
3. Stay out of debt!
This is why I like Dave Ramsey. I know a lot of people have an issue with his teachings, his tone, how strick he is about not using credit cards and paying for life with cash. Well, he's not giving out all this advice for nothing. The man knows what he's talking about. Yes, there is such a thing as good and bad debit, and yes having a credit card doesn't make you the spawn of Satan, but if you don't under how to use money and think credit cards and loans are the equivalent of owning money, you're wrong.
Ever heard of interest? I'm learning what interest means the hard way. You guys already know I'm in college and I learned about loans and financing at a later stage in my life. Moving forward I do not use credit cards unless I have it in cash or am able to pay off the amount I owe on my credit card very quickly.
Interest is like a sneaky best friend of a friend. You are not too aware of your friend's friend, but you're not too worried about him/her till they come for you. Interest is the principle amount added to any number of lended money given to you, the borrower. Never think the lender has your best interest in mind. They don't. They want you to you your credit card to buy something you really don't need, pay the lowest monthly due, and be in debt for as long as you can so they can reap your hard earned cash.
4. Work consistently
Ever heard the early bird gets the worm. He does and when he sticks to a well strategic schedule, out performs his competitors, stays later on the job, works weekends, looks for other opportunities to improve his hustle, oh he'll end up eating everything.
The not so secret secret formula to success is to work hard. That's it. Work hard, spend less then you make, don't buy unnecessary items and when you're broke act like a broke person and don't go out, you'll see vast improvement. Doesn't matter if your a janitor or a power CEO of a mega retailer, you follow these steps, put all your energy into your business or goals and you'll come up on top. Will take time for people to realize your greatness, but you are great if they notice you or not.
